Every artist feels their most recent effort is their best. That's how I feel about Simple Things. Three songs were written years ago, but the other six were written this winter. I made a conscious effort to put more guitar on this album. The lyrics often visit my past and at times are full of California imagery. That's me on the cover riding my new bike in Pasadena, California, probably 1975. The photo for It's Fun to Look Back is me opening my first Aerosmith album. I also got Kiss's first album that night. I remember it vividly. That night started a long journey. It's fun to look back.
This album is dedicated to Dad, Mom and Al, Alfie and Jason.
