This is a heavy song. In the span of one week, I learned that my dad and stepdad had cancer. We were driving to New Orleans that weekend for a wedding, so on the drive there and back I wrote the words and melody in my head. When I got home, I put it together in about five minutes. It's hard to sing, but both my dad and stepdad are fine now. Things worked out well. But I am thankful that music can always be an outlet for me when things get tough. My good friend Mike Munoz said this is the best song I've ever written. The lyrics are simple, but rich in imagery.
